Description

We obtain our 80% Myrrh Essential Oil from co-hydrodistillation of the pure resins of sweet and bitter myrrhs; Commiphora myrrha in  20% Commiphora guidottii. The two resins mingle together, as the rarer opoponax ensures complete extraction of all the volatiles in the myrrh resin. This codistillate blend  yields a more complete extraction of myrrh, and supplements its chemistry — and indeed its therapeutic index — with new sesquiterpenes from the opoponax and as a bonus adds a sweet base note to the somehow bitter oil.

Commiphora myrrha and Commiphora guidottii resins are hand-harvested and cleaned separately. They are then ground into finer particles, then premixed in their correct ratios just prior to distillation to ensure minimum loss of volatiles. The extraction process is deliberate, crafted in small batches and long hours, yielding complete chemistry and aromatic profile.
