Description
We distil our frankincense essential oil from the oleogum resin of Boswellia carteri Birdw., which is indigenous to the Ogaden flora of Somalia, Somaliland and Puntland. Boswellia carterii is synonymous to the Omani Frankincense, Boswellia sacra, and distinctions in names are only helpful in distinguishing their country of origin, chemotype (the differences in natural composition of the oil and consequently their therapeutic benefits) and their terroir (which subtly and distinctly affect the scent profile of the oil).
Carterii Essential Oil from specific areas, as well as pre-blended varieties (for the sake of enhancement of scent and therapeutic index of the final oil) are available on request.
Chemical Composition of the Oil
Depending on the area of harvest and the season of harvest, the oil will have varying levels of α-pinene, limonene (characteristically higher than in Boswellia neglecta), p-cymene, α-thujene, sabinene, and β-myrcene. GCMS analysis, together with DoA (Declaration of Allergens) and IFRA CoC for specific batches are available on request.
