Description

Our frankincense essential oil has been hydrodistilled from the pure resin that has been handpicked from the bark of the tree of Boswellia neglecta, growing wildly in the arid and semi-arid bushlands of the Somali Region of Ethiopia.

The extraction process is deliberately crafted in small batches, gradually, and to completion. This is to achieve the full profile of the volatile components of the oil, making it whole, complete and with clear minute signature compounds that trace back to the area and season of harvest of its resin.  The rich scent profile of the oil, when fully mature, mellows into a citrusy, woody and balsamic, characteristic of the dry resin.

Research-backed evidence show that frankincense oil has the following benefits:

• Muscle & Joint pain management. The oil is known to have strong antiinflammatory effects on muscles, as well as growth stimulation on both muscles and joints, making its addition on massage oils and other herbal preparations against post-workout fatigue, for body relaxing massage oils and in anti-arthritic medications essential. The antiseptic properties also assist in fighting infections which might be on the affected areas
• Aromatherapy. Due to its relaxing and uplifting benefits, frankincense oil has been used effectively in room sprays and diffusers, and when blended together with other relaxing essential oils, the synergy is powerful enough to let you cool off.
• Body Care and Face Care. Frankincense is known to rejuvenate the skin tissues, allowing for growth of new skin and also stimulating healing of tissues. It has found several applications in cosmeceuticals such as body lotions, body cream, body butters, face creams and facial toners.
• As a perfumery ingredient. Many top brands, such as this New Look Perfume from Dior, use frankincense essential oil to add a mystery note to their scent profile. It can also be used as a fixative.

 

The essential oil blends well with the following essential oils and fragrance oils: myrrh, opoponax, cedarwood, orange, bergamot, lemongrass, petitgrain, geranium, tea tree, rosemary, basils, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, jasmine and amber. It adds a balsamic sweetness to floral perfumes, and extra freshness to citrus notes.
